Raine laughing at Monster Mika

Just thought we would share our little monster with the world as he is too much for us to manage on our own. We are so afraid that one day he just might eat his brother completely before we even notice it is happening. The good thing is Raine doesn't seem to mind. Laughing all the  way. Just kidding! We love our incredibly active 5 month old boys. We laugh every time we see this. We joke that we should build a little city for Mika to stomp on like Godzilla.

22 weeks and growing

Life has been wonderful in the new year of 2009. The boys are growing so fast. Every time we turn around the boys seem to be learning something new. As much as we would love them to slow down each new phase is so much fun. They are such happy little boys. Raine has two new teeth now, the bottom two. Mika is not far behind. Josh and I are still working opposite schedules, it seems to be working great for our situation. My friend Melissa and her family watched the boys for us on January 8th so Josh and I could spend alone time. We got all dressed up and went to an extremely nice restaurant called Second Empire (http://www.second-empire.com/). It was an amazing night. She is a brave soul, she has a 10 week old herself. Three babies at one time, Thanks Melissa, it meant the world to us.

Big Boy Food

The boys are so big now, 21 weeks. We are starting to give them big boy food and they love it. Well, they love playing with it anyway.

First Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone! This was the boys first Christmas, they are now 18 weeks old. How cute they looked in their Christmas outfits. We had a nice quiet morning at home and then we spent the afternoon with Melissa's family. What a nice Christmas. We missed you all on the West Coast so very much, Christmas was not the same without you. As always, you were in our hearts and thoughts. Here are a few pictures of the boys with their favorite Christmas presents from Nana and Grandpa.

Sitting like big boys

What a fun month, the boys no longer spend all their time horizontal or in our arms. They now sit up with the help of their Bumbos. By far one of the best inventions ever. Makes for happier, not as frustrated, boys. We spent time with Aunt Amy, Uncle Jay, Cousins Michael and Corey. It was incredible introducing the boys to the East Coast family.

Four Generation Family Photo

The boys are now 7 weeks old and took their first plane ride all the way to San Diego. It was wonderful seeing the whole family and all our amazing friends. Sharing the boys with everyone was so special to us. This is one of the first family photos with everyone. Four generations of the Beach Family. 1 Month Later

One month down as new parents, so far so good. Thank you so much to my Mom who is staying with us for the first 3 weeks. We are so grateful for her help and love during this time. Definitely no time to waste when it comes to learning parenthood. Pretty sure we haven't had a chance to tie our shoes before we were off and running. Flip Flops are the way to go in this household. Dr. Zimmerman was wonderful, it was so much fun seeing him hold the boys. He truly loves what he does and shows complete interest in the well being of our new family.

HOME!!

We're finally home!It took us 6 days to get both our boys home. When the boys were born they spent 6 hours in the transitional nursery since they were a few days under 37 weeks. The docs wanted to make sure that they were both stable before releasing them to us. After 6 hours they let us have Raine but they sent Mika to the Special Nursery. He had to spend 6 days in their because his blood sugar was low. This is a picture of Mika with a little I.V. in his wee little hand. Taya was at the hospital for 4 days, due to the c-section, so the last 2 days Mika was at the hospital while Raine was at home with us. We went back and forth to the hospital several times both days that Mika was at the hospital so we were exhausted and just did not have time to call anyone or to let anyone know what was going on. Sorry to anyone who was waiting to hear from us. Thanks to all those who left us message. Special thanks to Tom and Sheila for helping us make it through this. If it were not for them I am not sure how this would have all worked out as well as it did.

Raine and Mika spent their first 6 hours in the transitional nursery for breathing issues. After 5 hours Raine was released to us with a clean bill of health. Mika had to go to the special nursery and has been there since. Mika was having low blood sugar levels so they wanted to put him on monitor and Intravenous fluids and keep track of him. His glucose levels are now outstanding and they are weaning him off of the IV as I type this. As it stands we've been having to go back and forth between our room and the special nursery for the last 3 days. I'm sorry if there are phone calls we are not returning or have not returned. We will be going home Tuesday morning and if we do not return your call before we leave we will shortly after we get home.

We're down to 16 days on our pregnancy with our twin boys. After 3 years of trying to get pregnant with tons of disappointment from the doctor telling us surgery would be needed to feeling like it would never happen, being 16 days away still seems like a lifetime. It's a good thing we didn't go with the doctors suggestions of fertility, we may have had a litter.
